Our trainings are designed to build knowledge, confidence, and capacity in ways that are practical, engaging, and tailored to your unique needs. We employ a collaborative and conversational approach to best understand your goals, challenges, and develop trainings that align with your specific context. Whether you’re looking to build foundational skills or deepen existing practices, we create flexible, responsive learning experiences for every kind of participant. Through a blend of reflection, discussion, and applied tools, we help translate insight into meaningful impact.
We create spaces for people to land, be supported, and grow through therapy, consultation, and training that are grounded in compassion, collaboration, and real-world experience.
We envision communities where care is accessible, systems are responsive, and every person has the support they need to heal, grow, and take flight.
The Nest Collaborative LLC was founded by wife duo Nikki and Dr. Tina Valila. Together they bring over 30 years of experience in the human service field, 20 of those in anti-trafficking work. Throughout their careers, Nikki and Tina have supported both youth and adults navigating complex trauma, systemic barriers, and intersecting needs with care that is both compassionate and practical.
Their other professional work span the nonprofit, government, and city sectors, giving a broad and nuanced understanding of the systems that impact individuals and communities. In addition to direct clinical work, both bring experience in training, program development, and clinical oversight, allowing for support not only to individuals but also the teams and organizations that serve them.
Areas of specialization include substance use with a focus on harm reduction and co-response models, sexual trauma, domestic violence, LGBTQ+ communities, and navigating legal systems. Their unique approach incorporates both traditional trauma-informed clinical practice while folding in their own experiences and knowledge.
The Nest Collaborative was created out of a shared commitment to creating spaces that are both clinically sound and deeply human with the hope that they offer safety, support, and the conditions needed for growth.
Welcome to The Nest.

Guiding the Guide™: A Training for Clinical Supervision of Survivors of Commercial Sexual Exploitation in Helping Roles was developed through the doctoral scholarship and twelve years of professional experience of Dr. Tina Valila within the anti-trafficking field. Originally designed as a comprehensive 25-hour asynchronous training and doctoral capstone project, the curriculum explores five core content areas that equip supervisors and organizations to ethically and effectively support survivors and individuals with lived experience who serve in helping roles.
As survivor leadership and lived experience expertise become increasingly integrated into nonprofit and human service organizations, the need for sustainable, trauma-informed supervision models continues to grow. While the inclusion of lived experience strengthens service delivery, there remains a significant gap in frameworks that support the long-term well-being, professional development, and retention of survivor professionals.
Guiding the Guide™ addresses this need by providing supervisors with practical tools, best practices, and a roadmap for ethical supervision. The training helps leaders understand the unique challenges that can emerge as individuals with lived experience deepen their involvement in helping professions, while fostering environments that promote growth, resilience, and sustainability.
Although originally developed as a comprehensive academic training program, Guiding the Guide can be tailored for organizations seeking focused professional development opportunities. Content can be delivered through live workshops, conference presentations, leadership trainings, or customized learning experiences designed to address the specific needs of an organization, team, or service system.
Guiding the Guide™ represents the original work and intellectual property of Dr. Tina Valila. Trademark and intellectual property protections are currently being pursued for the program name, logo, and training materials.

The Nest Collaborative operates as a private pay practice. Session fees are dependent on clinical complexity and level of risk. This model allows us to offer a more individualized, concierge-style experience with increased clinical access, flexibility, and continuity of care. Because of this structure, clients receive a higher level of direct support, responsiveness, and personalized attention than is typically available in standard care settings. Our focus is on providing thoughtful, consistent, and high-touch care that aligns with each person’s needs and stage of readiness.
Consultation services are available at an hourly rate. We also offer customized packages designed to meet the specific needs of individuals, teams, and organizations. Package pricing varies based on scope, goals, and level of engagement, and is developed collaboratively to ensure alignment with your priorities and desired outcomes.

Nikki represented The Nest Collaborative LLC, at Topsfield Pride while I was states away attending a conference and learning. We are entering a new season of growth as we initiate and engage in generative conversations and critically examine what recovery looks like. Recovery from trauma, recovery from substance use, recovery from loss, recovery looks different for everyone.
As I think about all the things on my to-do list this week, I pause. I pause to reflect on how proud I am to have built this practice in collaboration with my partner in life, anchored in the belief that people deserve dignity as they navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives.
Happiness, like recovery, looks different for everyone. For us, hard work and forming meaningful connections are paramount, and it brings us great joy to have the privilege of being part of someone’s recovery journey.
